Creative arts have long been a powerful medium for self-expression, storytelling, and cultural preservation. In Uganda, the Benda Foundation is using the arts as a tool for empowerment, especially for underprivileged youth. By offering opportunities in music, dance, poetry, film, and visual arts like painting and photography, the foundation is helping young people develop their talents, boost their confidence, and ultimately create brighter futures.
“At the heart of this initiative is the belief that every young person deserves a chance to LIVE THEIR DREAM. The impact of the foundation’s creative arts program is not only evident in the personal growth of the participants but also in the way it enriches the entire community by promoting culture, innovation, and resilience.”
Through initiatives like talent identification programs and mentorship workshops, the foundation is working to equip young people with the skills they need to thrive in the creative industry. Not only do these programs provide a safe space for youth to express themselves, but they also offer opportunities to showcase their work on national and international platforms. As a result, many young people from marginalized communities are discovering their potential and finding new career paths they never thought possible.
